The No Chintz Handmade Room! Made with L.O.V.E love…

Welcome to the No Chintz ‘Handmade Room’ – where everything you see has been created either by hand, using DIY techniques or craft kits, and with a splash of recycled furniture thrown in for fun. It’s Wonka Land for the creative…

It was all glue guns blazing (and needles threaded!) at the recent Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair. The challenge? Our No Chintz team were invited to create a Handmade Room for the Craft Fair, loaded with projects that people could make, sew, hang, recycle or create. Never one to back down from a challenge, our interior decorating geniuses, No Chintz owner and Creative Director Chrissie Jeffery and Visual Merchandiser Lisa Llavero, created this incredible room. Clever? Just a tad… Here’s the story behind some of these amazing pieces and of course, how you can create yourself.

Cheat Tip: Not all of us were gifted with the DIY Midas Touch. For those creative lovers inflicted by two left hands, remember, No Chintz have a made-to-order cushion program  which allows you to choose from over 130 Fabrics and nine shapes and sizes to design your own cushions online or in-store and have them delivered to your door. No Chintz also make-to-order, curtains, blinds, lampshades, bedheads and other soft furnishings and can upholster your furniture. Or, sign up for one of the No Chintz Workshops for a step-by-step guided class. There is also an extensive range of ready-made designer, limited edition and No Chintz cushions, wallpaper and one-off lampshades, bases and homewares.

Upholster chairs in slip covers

Customise your cushions. We added an applique ‘A’ letter using striped fabric remnants, then sewed on felt balls and circular shapes. Little ones love them! If your window view is a little lacklustre, jazz them up the Scandinavian way with Swedish Roll-up Blinds. Our team created these using the No Chintz Instructional Blinds Kit available in-store, using reversible Big Dot in Charcoal, $58.50 per meter, with Marina Ticking, $53 per meter, on the reverse. The Instructional Blinds Kit comes with, you guessed it, instructions to DIY. We added panel style curtains with a cut fringe and braid to edges to frame the blinds. Check out our range of trims here.

The floor rug was handmade in India by traditional weavers and are available through No Chintz stores and through our homewares collection.

We created the wall hanging using fabric to cover old platters, but you can buy them ready-made at No Chintz stores.
