We’re so proud of our boss because she was nominated by HOUSE & GARDEN as a woman of influence in the Interior Design World! She is second from the left.

Q: We asked her about Autumn and the things she loves about it?

A: Crisp early mornings, the changing of the leaves and getting ready to cocoon for Winter.

Just like I change my fashion wardrobe, I also change my apartment. I get out the throws

add warm winter hues via cushions – easy things to do! And, then I get inspired and add a

new lamp and some ribbon quilts to the beds!

Q: what is your favourite Autumn Winter cafe?

A: To be honest there are two all year round favourites – THE GROUNDS at Alexandria                         on my way to the NO CHINTZ workroom! special treat – organic poached eggs with all the                   trimmings! Thank goodness, Kevin Bacon – its famous pig was returned having been stolen                   as a prank!

My other favourite is BOURKE STREET BAKERY at Potts Point – just around the corner from home and a great place for early morning meetings – over an excellent coffee and the bread is too good!!

Q: Outside your passion for NO CHINTZ – what’s your other major passion?

A: I’m on The Contemporary Benefactors Committee of the Art Gallery of NSW – AGNSW. Our mission is to raise funds for Contemporary Art acquisitions. My connection with AGNSW started as a student when the new Director, Edmund Capon made entry free so I spent many winter Sundays wandering the gallery admiring the works of the early Sydney Moderns. many of these paintings became old friends! I truly believe that looking at art from a young age has had unexpected influences on my design senses.   My dream is for a bigger gallery that will accommodate more student visits!

Q: Your personal style signature is your glasses – it seems everyone comments on them?

A: Glasses are a passion with me – i’ve worn them so long and as they are ‘in your face’ and ‘on your face’ I want them to be fabulous. I very cleverly met and married my optometrist – Richard Banks!

I love quirky shapes in luxe materials – and Richard indulges me!

Q: Where is your favourite escape?

A: We have a holiday house at Culburra on the South Coast near Nowra.

Dear friends of ours bought a classic 50s beach house and then very cleverly invited us to stay just when the funky shack next door came up for sale. Of course we bought it.

I love the Dawn Chorus with the native birds and having grown up on the NSW North Coast I love the laid back, let’s not hurry vibe. We’ve kept the interiors very simple, very comfortable and laid back and just a little retro!

Q: What’s inspiring your latest collections?

A: I’ve been reading a lot about the history of INDIGO and it has re-ignited a new love for the colour blue – this has inspired our newest NORFOLK COLLECTION – watch this space!

We’ll team it with traditional kalimkari designs.
